Thumbs up: Indy culture matters

Police estimates pegged the crowd at the Monument Circle rally for the arts at 2,000 -- not bad for a day when the weather was anything but picture perfect. Eugene White of Indianapolis Public Schools, Don Welsh of the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association, Angela Braly of WellPoint, Mark Miles and Mayor Ballard all spoke. No one mentioned recent cuts to arts funding and no one suggested that help was on the way. So the rally amounted to a big group hug.
