Indiana House Ways and means Chairman William Crawford (D-Indianapolis) is right to block Gov. Mitch Daniels' attempt to budget $7 million for virtual charter schools in a year when the governor himself says budget cuts are called for. Virtual charters would be online schools, none of which currently exist. As Crawford points out, it makes no sense to fund nonexistent, experimental programs when actual students, in real schools, are in need.
