39th annual McFadden Memorial Lecture

The Indianapolis Public Library has announced that its 39th annual McFadden Memorial Lecture will be presented by noted children’s author Jacqueline Woodson on Friday, April 15 at 7 p.m. at Northview Middle School, 8401 Westfield Blvd.

Woodson’s autobiographical book of verse for young children, Brown Girl Dreaming, received the 2015 Newbery Honor Award and 2014 National Book Award. She received the Coretta Scott King Award for her 2000 book, Miracle’s Boys, and the Margaret Edwards Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2002. In 2015, Woodson was named “Young People’s Poet Laureate” by the Poetry Foundation for a two-year tenure.
