As news agencies and commentators continue to develop opinions and ideas about the motive of the gunman who shot up a gay nightclub in Florida, some Hoosiers are concentrating on the counter-message people need to hear.
Christ Church Cathedral will host an “Interfaith Prayer Vigil Against the Violence” in conjunction with the Indianapolis Congregation Action Network (IndyCAN). The network is an alliance of churches, synagogues and mosques that work collaboratively on various issues of social justice in Indianapolis.
For this group of pastors, rabbis, clerics and other faith leaders, the message following the Pulse attack is simple: targeting people for violence based on their sexual orientation or racial identity is despicable.
The vigil is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at Christ Church Cathedral on Monument Circle.
