When: Tue., Sept. 20, 6-8 p.m. 2016
As part of the Library's celebration of Indiana's bicentennial, adults are invited to a discussion of a book that relates to the state's cultural and social history. The book to be discussed is "The Girl in the Tangerine Scarf" by Mohja Kahf. This book, a selection of the Indiana Humanities Next IN Bookshelf, is about a girl growing up devoutly Muslim in Indiana during the 1970s. The discussion will include a look at what it means to be Muslim and American in Indiana today. This program, presented in partnership with the Muslim Alliance of Indiana, will be held in Central Library's Clowes Auditorium.
