Arts Week Everywhere and Music Industry I present: Beatstreet A Music and Arts Festival in support of Bloomington High School Music Programs

When: Thu., April 5, 5-9 p.m. 2012

Beatstreet is a music and arts festival, including a flash mob gathering, created and organized by the students in SPEA A 236, Music Industry I, taught by Monika Herzig. Several of Bloomington's most popular bands will perform in Dunn Meadow while a variety of artist vendors offer their products. Sales of art, pizza, and raffle tickets, as well as donations throughout the evening will help raise funds for Bloomington's public school music programs. The event proposal was selected as one of the spotlight events of this year's Arts Week Everywhere celebrations and will bring together campus and community in a unique way of collaboration and support. As a class project, the sixty students in Music Industry I are working on all organizational aspects of the event, including a flash mob gathering at 7:45 with a variety of surprise guests.

Arts Week is a celebration of the rich, vibrant arts that abound on the Indiana University campus and in the greater Bloomington community. Held annually for nearly 30 years, this new month-long celebration showcases the diversity of arts on campus and in our community. From live stage performances, music, theatre, film, dance, and visual arts exhibits held in some of the best arts venues in the country to improv flash mobs and impromptu concerts scattered about Indiana University's beautiful campus. AWE 2012 celebrates both the traditional and the unexpected.

Price: Free.
