Indianapolis Civic Theatre will conduct OPEN AUDITIONS for its new Broadway Concert Series presentation of CAMELOT on Monday & Tuesday,Aug. 24 & 25 at 7pm. Auditions will be held at the Theatre facility, 3200 Cold Spring Road on the campus of Marian University. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin Sept. 14. All scenes and musical numbers will be performed, but in a less conventional, more minimal manner. The performers will have the script and score with them throughout the show. The concert-style format also offers more opportunity for non-traditional casting in terms of appearance and age. The musical concert will be presented Oct. 2 through Oct. 4, 2009. The script calls for a cast of approximately 5 men and 2 women. Principal roles include King Arthur, his bride Guenevere, Arthur's long-time magician friend Merlyn and Sir Lancelot, in addition to knights, ladies and members of The Court. This award-winning Lerner and Loewe musical is based on the legendary kingdom of Camelot and the love triangle of King Arthur, Queen Guenevere and Sir Lancelot. The production will be directed by Michael J. Lasley. Performers are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song and may be asked to sing from the show. Those interested in auditioning should bring sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided. Actors may also be asked to read from the script.
