Big Boris Barleywine, Lafayette Brewing Company seasonal cult classic, will be released at LBC's annual New Year's Eve Bash at 9 p.m. Local rock veteran band Root Hog will be featured. Tickets: $8 advance/$10 day of show. Brewmaster Greg Emig reports: "We're rushing to get some of this year's version of Big Boris into 22 oz. bombers."

People's Mr. Brown has been released outside of the Lafayette area, and is now available on draft in 5- and 15.5-gallon kegs. Brewmaster Chris Johnson says: "For this American Style Brown Ale we used a lot of base malt and four different dark resulting in a complex malt character and a warming alcohol flavor. This is a great cold-weather beer, warming and smooth to take away the chill. We balanced it with Kent Goldings hops." Get locations at

New Albanian Brewing Company's Bonfire of the Valkyries, a Smoked Black Lager that is a fusion between a German-style Schwarzbier & Rauchbier, is reported to be available in Indianapolis. Ask for it at your favorite brewpub, bar or restaurant.
