Comfort food - and that's what Scratch says it offers, "modern comfort food" - can take a lot of forms. Sure, you've got your Scratch Burger, a 1/3 pound custom-ground patty topped with gorgonzola and a bacon marmalade that's so popular you can buy it in jars around town. And your spicy chicken cone (chicken tenders with mango jalapeno slaw and ancho chile aioli). But it's the stuff that's comfort-inducing even though it's unfamiliar that really impresses. Mama never served poutine, panna cotta, or basil lemonade, but damn if they don't trigger all the same endorphins.
