Best Local Jazz

Rob Dixon

Indy's all right, if you like saxophones. And Indy really likes this particular saxophone player, Best of Indy jazz winner, Rob Dixon. A David Baker acolyte, Dixon's been associated with some of the best modern players of our time. He performs both contemporary and straight-ahead jazz, playing with the Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, leading Trilogy+1 and gigging regularly at the Jazz Kitchen and Chatterbox. Dixon also performed often with the recently passed B-3 organist Melvin Rhyne. We gave their 2008 album ReInvention a spot on our 100 Best Hoosier albums ever list, too. We once called him our Musical Mayor - the name still fits!
