Best local visual 3-D artist

Matt Panfil

Panfil is a local artist whose collages are more like an eye-spy game than anything. His three- dimensional work is unbelievably intricate and brings a whole new meaning to collages. In his recent Do317 show he noted: “With my cut-paper collages, I’m primarily driven by the urge to coalesce seemingly disparate scenes, figures, symbols and various other imagery into a unified, complex narrative. I find myself constantly engaged with collage for its endless potential to infuse archetypal and abstract imagery, with which I seek to penetrate what Aldous Huxley dubbed ‘the mind’s antipodes’: subconscious realms of raw existential data.”
