Best Place To Volunteer

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful deserves this award on the sheer basis of numbers: In 2008, they recruited nearly 45,000 volunteers for over 500 projects. But beyond the numbers, KIB offers volunteers hands-on and meaningful opportunities. They frequently get people involved in their own neighborhoods and community, where it's easy to see the fruits (and leaves) of their labors planting trees, picking up litter and recycling. The NeighborWoods program provides volunteers the chance to be part of something big -- a pledge to plant 100,000 trees in Indianapolis in 10 years.
