Cadaver, Speak

When: Thu., Oct. 30, 7:30 p.m. 2014

Poet and Purdue professor Marianne Boruch will direct students from IU’s School of Medicine and Liberal Arts on the IUPUI campus in this reader’s theater performance of her latest collection, Cadaver, Speak, a sequence of 30 poems about life, death and the body narrated by a 99-year-old woman dissected during an anatomy class. The narrator is based on an elderly cadaver Boruch encountered while taking an anatomy class at Purdue: “For some reason, this figure, my favorite cadaver, just pushed me aside and wanted to be the speaker,” she told PBS NewsHour.
