Cerulean's Pete Schmutte wins big for his chocolate recipe



Food and recipe website The Chef's Connection hosted a chocolate recipe contest open to both pro chefs and home cooks alike. They teamed up with (were sponsored by) Valrhona, "the chocolate experts," who both supply pastry chefs and train them at their prestigious school, and invited folks to submit their recipes for a chance to win some cash, swag, many pounds of chocolate, a feature story, and bragging rights.

All of this would be pretty great on its own, until you realize that the contest was judged by five of the most famous pastry chefs on the face of the earth. We've linked the chefs so you can read up and be as impressed as you should be by our hometown man, Pete Schmutte, who killed it in the professional chef category and came away victorious. Keep your eyes peeled for the recipe on The Chef's Connection.

You may recognize Schmutte's name as the creator of the vegetarian Chefs Night Off dessert, which was so good I threatened forcible mouth-kissing against the chef in my review. Clearly, the victory is well-deserved.
