Coal Ash Stories

When: Fri., April 8, 7 p.m. 2016

Cross and Crown Lutheran Church at the southeast corner of Allisonville Rd. and 79th St. (5933 E. 79th Street)

In 2016 Indianapolis Power & Light will propose plans to close coal ash ponds on the southside of Indianapolis, where groundwater contamination linked to coal ash has been found. Coal Ash Stories includes four short films that illustrate the public health concerns, policy issues, and ways communities are responding to the dangers of unregulated coal ash disposal. The purpose of the program is to educate residents and draw attention to the toxic impact of coal ash on communities, including our own drinking water here in Indianapolis. Experts from the Sierra Club or Hoosier Environmental Council will speak after the film and offer ideas for citizen involvement.

Price: Free.
