Eli Manning and the New York Giants came to Lucas Oil Stadium to challenge Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts for the Colts' first home pre-season game. The opening quarter saw Andrew Luck connecting with Griff Whalen to get the first touchdown of the game. Before the end of the first quarter Adam Vinatieri connected with a 53-yard field goal putting the Colts up 10-0.
After playing only about 5 minutes of the second quarter, Luck took a seat and Matt Hasselback took the field. Hasselback connected with Da'Rick Rodgers for a 14 yd touchdown on the heels of a long drive, and the Giants were left scoreless in the first half, giving the Colts a comfortable lead 20-0.
Ryan Nassib then entered for New York at QB and with a 4:25 drive connected with Michael Cox for yet another Giant touchdown. That put the Giants within six with only four minutes left as the Giants held off the Colts and regained the ball on their own 14 yard line, began to mount an offensive and pushed the ball down field.
With :59 seconds left Nassib connected with Corey Washington for a fourth touchdown. Then New York tried a two point conversion but was not able to complete the pass to Adrien Robinson. With only :55 seconds on the clock Chandler Harnish moved the ball downfield to the 46 of the Giants. Ten seconds remained and on fourth down a decision had to be made: go for it on fourth or attempt a 64 yard field goal? Coach Chuck Pagano sent in Pat McAfee — not to punt but attempt the near-impossible FG. Pat went for the dream kick and had the distance but watched the ball go wide left. Giants 27, Colts 26.
