In her first solo exhibition, Kathryn Dart focuses a personal sense of community and connection, using the repeated image of a house to symbolize individuals and families that make up a greater collective. The work is a mixture of both painting and sculpture. The encaustic paintings layer wax, paper, and dirt to take on sculptural elements of their own. Small objects made from cut paper and wax are sewn together to create assembled hanging sculptures. These simple materials are lifted into conversation with each other to examine our connectedness as city dwellers. For more info, visit www.earthhousecollective.org.
