Gloria Redux

When: Thu., March 8, 7 p.m. 2012

The IMA was selected to represent the U.S. at the Venice Biennale, an international art competition from June–November 2011. Artistic collaborative Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla created a series of works for the exhibition titled Gloria that blended sculpture, photography, performance, sound, and video. At this celebratory forum, hear from U.S. Commissioner and IMA senior curator and chair of the Department of Contemporary Art Lisa Freiman, as well as the artists, performers (including Olympic gymnast Dave Durante), choreographers and IMA staff who implemented the exhibition abroad. Prior to the forum, gymnast Sadie Wilhelmi will conduct the inaugural Indianapolis performance of Body in Flight (Delta)—a work included in Gloria—in the Efroymson Family Entrance Pavilion at 6:15 p.m. Body in Flight (Delta) will remain on display with regularly scheduled performances by local gymnasts through April 22. Buy a Gloria catalogue and have it signed by the forum participants. Presented by the IMA Contemporary Art Society.

Price: Free.
