Greg Oden arrested for suspected battery

Former Lawrence North High School and Miami Heat center Greg Oden was arrested in Lawrence, Indiana after allegedly punching a woman according to USA Today.

According to a Lawrence Police Department report the incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Police say when officers arrived on the scene they found the victim crying and lying across a bed holding her face.

The report also stated that police "observed blood, swelling to the nose, lacerations to the forehead and nose area of the victim's face" as well as blood on the sofa and floor in the sitting area.

Police said Oden was "calm apologetic and cooperative" when they spoke with him.

Oden now faces a preliminary charge of battery.

Oden was drafted No. 1 overall by the Portland Trailblazers in 2007 after only year at Ohio State University. He has averaged 8.0 point per game and 6.2 rebounds per game in his career.
