Hashtag Life

When: March 2-31, 6-9 p.m. 2012

I am very excited to announce Dewclaw's first guest artist, Kamilah Gill. In March, she will present “Hashtag Life”, a group of paintings which she generates from internet-gleaned data and images. Kamilah identifies such touching and often humorous moments. She then incorporates these unrelated found moments into a new reality on canvas. One senses these new vignettes are more than mere re-contextualization. She seems to internalize them in some way; they seem to exist in a regenerated (and regenerative) reality. By embracing internet randomness, Kamilah creates works which portray an innovative, re-humanized new order.
