When: Sat., April 14, 6:30-11 p.m. 2012
The Indiana Coalition Against Sexual Assault (INCASA) is excited to announce our 26th Anniversary of providing services to victims of sexual violence in Indiana. To commemorate this important anniversary, INCASA will host a Gala on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. - 11 p.m. at Oak Hill Mansion in Carmel.
Our 26th Anniversary Gala is themed One in Seven: Just the Tip of the Iceberg. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the 14th of April commemorates the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. This mighty ship was doomed, not by the visible iceberg, but by the dark mass lurking under the surface of the water. It was the unseen that sent 1,581 souls to an icy grave. The visible tip of the iceberg is representative of the one in seven women – the 25% that report to law enforcement. The 75% of victims that don’t report, that continue to suffer in silence – the victims who are brutally raped and murdered – the child victims who grow up to be re-victimized – those who grow up to become predators; these are the unseen. These are the souls that demand more of our focus and care. They are unseen but not invisible. For one to see the reminder of the iceberg, one need only look below the waterline.
In keeping with the Titanic theme, the menu will be based on the last meal served onboard, the music will be themed in accordance with the music of the era, and a wonderful selection of silent auction items will round out the evening. INCASA will honor individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution toward the eradication of sexual violence.
We invite you to celebrate with us by joining at our 26th Anniversary Gala.
