Housed on meandering bucolic grounds with meticulously manicured gardens, this beautiful museum offers a visual experience that extends beyond the traditional confines of art viewing. It holds a collection of 42,000 works that span the range and scope of art history. Japanese, African, Native American art, the list goes on. The 100-acre Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park, featuring numerous sculptures behind the IMA, has put Indianapolis on a larger cultural map. The Toby Theatre enables the IMA to host all sorts of events, including those events focused on film, such as the Indianapolis International Film Festival. All this, and you can get a nourishing and delicious bite to eat at the museum’s Nourish Café, headed up by chef Ty Hunt. Just don’t climb on Robert Indiana’s “LOVE” sculpture!
