Indy Jazz Fest: The Headhunters

When: Tue., Sept. 13, 7:30 & 9:30 p.m. 2011

This week on nuvo.net, we tell the story of how The Headhunters, Herbie Hancock's old backing band that long ago flew its leader's coop, found their way to Indianapolis. It has a lot to do with local saxophonist Rob Dixon and the label for which he works A&R, Owl Studios. Tuesday's show is a release party for The Headhunters first album for Owl, "Platinum," a hip-hop influence release with guest appearances by Snoop Dogg and George Clinton.

Price: $25.
