Jazz Jam at the Jazz Kitchen

When: Sat., July 23, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and Sat., Aug. 27, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. 2011

Held at the Jazz Kitchen, 5377 N. College Ave, these interactive workshops and jam sessions provide all ages the chance to learn from the city's most renowned jazz artists, giving them direct instruction from world class musicians and the ability to incorporate new techniques into playing. July 23 features Harry Midema, University of Indianapolis Jazz Studies Director and John Vander Gheynst, director of Jazz Studies at IUPUI. The Jazz Jams conclude with a special improvisation workshop and jam session with international jazz educator and saxophonist Jamey Aebersold on August 27. A driving force in the American jazz scene, Aebersold continues to kindle the fires of musical imagination in those with whom he comes in contact. For more info, visit www.indyjazzfest.net.
