- David Forsell
David Forsell, the executive director of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc., was recently acknowledged for his work with a national award.
At the Keep America Beautiful 60th anniversary National Conference, which took place January 29-31 in Washington, D.C., Forsell was presented with the Sue Smith Leadership Award, the organization's highest professional honor.
For more than two decades Forsell has worked for KIB, and under his leadership the organization has grown tremendously in many ways. The number of full-time employees has doubled, the budget has tripled, and its project output has increased tenfold. One of the goals Forsell has set for the KIB is to plant 100,000 trees in Marion County, and several programs such as NeighborhoodWoods, KIB Youth Tree Team, and Tree Tenders have been established to help accomplish that goal.
Forsell has also been the driving force behind the Lilly Day of Service, and is greatly involved in other volunteer projects like the Great Indy Cleanup.
The award is given annually by KAB to their affiliate leaders who have built and sustained successful programs. It is named after Sue Smith, a KAB affiliate trainer who recently retired after 25 years with the organization.
