Want a break from winter? Come to The Depot in Martinsville where you will lose yourself in a jungle. It is a warm place filled with adventure and fun, friends and a host of wild animals played by young actors.
Martinsville Merry Mac Players Youth production of Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale “The Jungle Book” will warm your hearts. This brilliant tale, directed by Joan Kimbley, follows Mowgli, a young boy who is raised in the jungle by a family of wolves. Mowgli’s chief instructors in jungle law is the affectionate brown bear, Baloo and the panther Bagheera. When a ferocious man-eating tiger, Shere Khan, swears to kill Mowgli, Baloo and Bagheera agree to take the boy to the man village for his safety. Along the way as Mowgli struggles for survival he learns life lessons of loyalty to family and friends from a host of jungle animals including wolves, monkeys and a python named Kaa.
Come and swing along in the jungle with this delightful group of young actors….you will be glad you left the “man village” for your time in the “wild”.
