Monday Morning Prep: Old Skool Sundays

When the weekend dwindles to its waning hours, you're left with a choice to make. Should you curl up and hope your hangover goes away by morning, or should you have a little hair of the dog and cut a couple rugs to bring Monday morning in with a bang?

The obvious choice is the latter, and there's no better place to do just that than the Old Skool Sundays party at Subterra Lounge. While its called Old Skool Sunday, we're not talking about the retro funk of the seventies or overplayed hair band sing-a-longs of the eighties. The music is a perfect throwback to the dance and hip hop sounds of yesteryear, with everything from the jacking Chicago house of Cajmere, to the New Jack Swing of Johnny Gill and Tony Toni Tone, to the party hip hop of Snoop Doggy Dog and Naughty By Nature. If you were a teenager sometime in the last 25 years, I'm willing to bet that you'll love what your hear.

The DJs responsible for your Sunday evening time warp include DJ Steady B, Bboy Jinx, and DJ Rican. Together they bring over 30 collective years of DJing, all with their own flair for playing the classics. I know for a fact that Steady and Jinx have most of the music they play on 12" vinyl singles, so there is no question that they know their stuff.

The party starts sans cover around 9pm and you can sweat it out until last call at 2:45am. Nix the Saturday hangover with $3 Bud Lights, $4 Rumplemintz, or $5 martinis all night.

Old Skool Sunday is a great way to wind down the weekend but if you decide to get a little crazy one more time, well they aren't responsible for your Monday morning wake up call.
