New Native Speak

When: Sat., Nov. 9, 1-3:30 p.m. 2013

The 1491s, an all-Native American ensemble and sketch comedy group, mocks common stereotypes of contemporary Native Americans via new media. See their hilarious short film Social Smallpox, enjoy Native music and dance, and hear ensemble members talk about their use of satire, and the ways they are using YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook to bring awareness to mainstream audiences on the reality of contemporary Native American culture. Q&A to follow. Presented by Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, Big Car, and iMOCA.
