Disco was alive and well at the Indiana State Fair Monday evening!

Say what you will about the Village People - they have sold more than 100 million records worldwide and you know the words to all of the songs whether you realize it or not. The band started in 1977 and the majority of the performers are original members - now in their 60s and 70s.

The Fairgrounds was empty this evening - the rain had chased everyone out earlier - and beautiful. I  love the way the Fairgrounds look after a rain, all shiny and sparkly and took a lap on a Tractor Tram.

I'm at the point in the Fair where I start to panic about all of the things that I haven't done yet! I came home after work and thought I'd lie down for just a few minutes.  I woke up in a panic at 7:15 and thought I'd slept through the night and MISSED a day of the Fair. Luckily that wasn't the case, but I didn't see as much as I planned.

#selfiewithafarmer Amy Stinton raises shrimp for RDM in Fowler, Benton County. Phil Shambach raises tilapia in Romney, Tippecanoe County. They are part of Indiana's thriving aquaculture industry.

My picks for Tuesday:

It is $2 Tuesday, $2 admission with this voucher. There are also $2 offerings at most food vendors.

Come visit me at the The Indiana Beef Cattle Association's ribeye sandwich tent. I've always wanted to work at a Fair food booth - but just for the day. I get to volunteer with the Indianapolis chapter of the American Culinary Federation. With all of the professional chefs around, I assume that I'll be filling sodas and replenishing the condiment bar. I hope I get to flip at least one steak. When I asked what to wear I was told that any tee-shirt was okay as long as it wasn't promoting pork or chicken!

I'll see you there!

Nora Spitznogle is a nonprofit director by day and year-round Indiana State Fair geek. She hasn't missed a single day of the Fair in over a decade and the stack of ribbons from entering baking competitions and ugly lamp contests in the Open Show are among her prized possessions.
