Editor's note: The news desk received the following press release from the Marion County Prosecutor's Office at 4:51 p.m. on Jan. 14:

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced today that Otis Jetter was sentenced to 40 years in the Indiana Department of Correction for two counts of Child Molesting. Jetter received a 30 year sentence for one A Felony Child Molesting charge and a 10 year sentence for one B Felony Child Molesting charge.

Jetter was convicted by a jury on Dec. 10, 2013, of molesting a child who, at the time of the first incident, was twelve years of age. The victim was a member of the church at which Jetter was pastor.

Because the incidents took place in approximately 1994 and 1996, the effective sentencing statutes during each of those years determined the potential sentence ordered today. Child Molesting was a B Felony in 1994 then elevated in state law to an A Felony by 1996.
