The Fourth Wall in A Very Phoenix X-Mas.
The Phoenix Theater's annual Christmas pageant is a dependable holiday tradition without the tired material. It's curated with just the right amount of cheerfulness and sentimentality, comedy and music.

IndyFringe fan favorites, The Fourth Wall, add a dash of Christmas magic and musical levity. It's hard not to feel jolly as they dance from wing to wing playing instruments in hand. Hosts Scot Greenwell and Ryan O'Shea are playful, particularly in their catchy duet "Present Face."

The performance reaches a sentimental peak with Tim Minchin's "White Wine in the Sun," a tender carol about family that becomes large as the ensemble's voice swells. While a handful of sketches fall flat, A Very Phoenix X-mas has humor, panache and a strong finish that sends audiences away with that warm, fuzzy holiday feeling. Through Dec. 22 at Phoenix Theatre.
