Dubbed the rowdiest party at the Indy 500, the Snake Pit had high expectations for partying at its finest. With a zipline, J├Ągermeister tent and booze galore, the stage was set for some belligerent fun.

Prior to attending the Snake Pit, I had spoken with numerous people telling me I was in for a wild time. Everyone was a drunken mess, all spirited out in their USA gear but luckily nothing got too out of control. Police monitored the party and -- surprisingly -- people were raging responsibly. I didn't see as much nudity as expected but this could be due to the colder-than-most-500s weather.

Diplo's set proved that anyone can enjoy electronic dance music -- that you don't even have to realize it's electronic dance music. Throwing in party favorites like "Baby Got Back" turned up the party and had the booties shaking.

During the Snakepit Queen Contest hosted by Radionow 100.9, minimal clothing and human pretzels had the crowd roaring in excitement.

After a pause for the start of the race on the big screen, Afrojack hit the stage and the audience was ready to rage. He started and ended his set with hints of the popular EDM rhythm "Reload" by Sebastian Ingrosso and Tommy Trash. It wasn't the Dutch DJ's usual scene; the theme was full "Amurikan" with cut-off shorts, full-geared red, white, and blue and chants of "U-S-A. "

The international star definitely knows his American party hits to mix in for the crowd. Popular sing-a-longs like the theme song for the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" kept the crowd engaged.

Afrojack remixed almost every genre possible giving everyone something to break it down to. He even threw in some REM's "Losing my Religion" mixed into Skrillex's "Bangarang."

The on-stage entertainment kept all eyes on the front as aerial silk dancers and go-go dancers kept their smiles big and their bodies moving. There were even break-dancers tearing it up --- some doing moves I didn't know were even possible. This was probably the earliest any of these college-aged attendees had been up in a while. The daylight rave was much more hyped than expected at 10 a.m.

When they cut the music for the last ten laps of the race the crowd waited impatiently and irritated, wanting to get back to grooving. Tony Kanaan won the race but this was information we didn't care about. Turn the music back on!

Even post-race, local DJ Dub Knight came back on for a special set to keep the girls twerking. With the Pacers in the playoffs later that evening, this was a day I was proud to call myself a Hoosier and participate in chanting "Beat the Heat!" Indiana flags waved in the wind, and even out-of-towners loved it.
