Review: The Crucible at the IRT



The IRT stages Arthur Miller's classic political drama with vivid design elements and grounded performances. Director Michael Donald Edwards creates a strong sense of atmosphere, opening an immediate door to the world of the play. Scenic and lighting design from Lee Savage and Jennifer Schriever, respectively, are dark and rich coordinating to create visual magic.

Elizabeth Laidlaw is chilling as Elizabeth Proctor, and the onstage energy between her and Ryan Artzberger (John Proctor) is compelling. The pair lead an incredibly talented cast, whose work together seamlessly presents a community gone mad with accusation and the search for purity.
