Usually, Governor Pence likes to sign the bills he supports with a lot of pomp and circumstance, surrounded by the press and the public while making a statement.
But, that wasn't the case today.
Instead, Pence decided to hide in his office to sign the Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law.
Word coming out of the signing ceremony is that Pence simply said the law was not about discrimination."If I thought it legalized discrimination in any way in Indiana, I would have vetoed it," Pence stated during the ceremony. Groups that lobbied for the bill stood alongside the authors and sponsors of the bill from the General Assembly as Pence did what he said it he would do.
With the Governor's signature attached, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act will officially take effect July 1.
