Concert soprano Shelley Cooper returns to Hanover College to sing a combination of opera and show tunes Thursday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lynn Center for the Fine Arts.
Titled “Should I Be Sweet?” the concert will include famous lyric opera arias such as “Habanera” from “Carmen” by Georges Bizet and “O mio babbino caro,” from Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi.” The program will also contain several Broadway favorites, including “I Could Have Danced All Night,” from Lerner and Lowe’s “My Fair Lady,” and “I Dreamed a Dream,” from “Les Miserables,” by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Herbert Kretzmer.
In addition to the concert, she will appear as an artist-in-residence for a week, conducting a series of master classes with students, including one at Madison Consolidated High School, whose theater students are currently in rehearsal for a production of “Les Miserables.”
