Slideshow: IU vs. Purdue Football



Indiana University hosted rival Purdue for the final game of the 2013 football season at Memorial Stadium on Nov. 30, 2013. Both teams ended a season of disappointment and struggles with what became a game of offensive fireworks, and IU outpacing Purdue to a 56-36 victory.

It was the 116th meeting of these inner-state rivals, and 89th battle for the Old Oaken Bucket. IU honored 21 senior players and team staff members during a pre-game Senior Day ceremony.

In his fourth start of the season, IU quarterback Tre Roberson threw for 273 yards and six touchdowns, three to junior wide-out Shane Wynn. The Sophomore QB standout from Indianapolis Lawrence Central added 154 yards on 21 rushes.

Hoosier wide receiver Cody Latimer finished with 110 yards and one touchdown on 7 receptions, finishing the year with over 2,000 yards receiving. Senior running back Stephen Houston tallied 120 yards rushing with two scores.

IU scored early and often to take a 35-9 halftime lead. Purdue battled back but was unable to get close. Boilermaker freshman quarterback Danny Etling threw for 485 yards and four touchdowns, each to a different receiver.

Limited to 31 yards rushing, Purdue abandoned the run to try and close the early gap. Wideout DeAngelo Yancey finished with 125 yards and one touchdown on 11 catches, and teammate Danny Anthrop added a score and five catches for 151 yards.

IU finished the season a game short of bowl eligibility at 5-7, and 3-5 in the Big Ten. Purdue finished 1-11 overall, and 0-8 in the Big Ten.
