IUPUI men's basketball opened its season on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. This marks the final year of play at The Jungle, as the team will call the renovated Fairgrounds Coliseum "home" next season. A spirited crowd saw their Jaguars make a late rally, but fall short to the visiting University of Evansville Purple Aces, 84-78.

The Jaguars were without last week's Summit League Player of the Week, Mitch Patton. Starting guard Ian Chiles scored a team high 28 points, with 2 of his 4 3-pointers keeping IUPUI close in the closing minutes. Knufu Najee added 19 points, and forward Donovan Gibbs tallied 18 points and 9 rebounds.

Down the stretch, Evansville kept the Jags at bay with over 90% from the free throw line. D.J. Balentine provided 29 points, highlighted by 12/12 from the line and 3/4 from behind the arc.

The Jaguars (1-2) next face Southeast Missouri State (1-1) at home, Saturday November 16th.
