The Jungle welcomed the Western Illinois Leathernecks, as host IUPUI looked to snap a 5-game losing streak and the bottom of the Summit League Conference. After a tightly-contested first half, the Jags couldn't keep pace and fall 69-54.
After trailing 21-23 at the half, IUPUI picked up the offensive output with 33 in the second. Ja'Rob McCallum lead the team in scoring (18) and steals (3), and Khufu Najee added 14 points on 7 of 9 shooting.
However the Jag defense could not keep Western Illinois within reach. After pulling within six at 46-40 with 10:25 to play, the Leathernecks Adam Link made a lay-up and Mike Miklusak hit consecutive 3-point field goals.
The rough road continues with a tough schedule ahead. IUPUI falls to 5-18 (0-6) with Western Illinois settling at 9-12 (3-3).
