The IUPUI Jaguars honor basketball and cheerleader seniors, alumni, and their stadium, The Jungle, during a game against the Fort Wayne Mastodons, February 22, 2014.

It was a Saturday afternoon of glancing back at the past and reaching forward to the future. Before tip-off, basketball players Donovan Gibbs, P.J Hubert, and Mitch Patton were recognized along with senior cheerleaders for their years of participation at IUPUI.

Jaguar basketball alumni from the past four decades assembled during a halftime presentation. Select members were inducted into the IUPUI Basketball Hall of Fame, including current NBA Pacer guard George Hill (absent) and Carlos Knox.

Knox finished his career as the all-time leader in all major scoring records, including career points (2,556), single-game points (51), and career scoring average (30.1).

The game featured a spread scoring effort by visiting IPFW, with six players finishing in double-figures. Luis Jacobo lead with 13 and 9 rebounds.

IUPUI could not keep pace with this balanced attack. Marcellus Barksdale finished with 13 points and 4 rebounds. The team struggled to make ground behind the arc, going just 2-18, and lose 80-64.

Looking forward, the Jaguars will call the Indianapolis Fairgrounds Coliseum home for the 2014-2015 basketball season. It actually hosted IUPUI from 1975-1979, the Indiana Pacers from 1967-1974, and the 1970 ABA All Star Game.

The nearly-completed $63 million renovation will bring the facility up-to-date with renovated locker rooms, video boards, sounds system, hospitality options, and seating for 6,841 fans.
