Tap 'N' Run 4K will hit the streets of Indianapolis come June 8th at 5 p.m. The race course, full of outrageous costumes, beer chugging, oh, and some exercise, is one of its kind in the world of racing.

So, how in the world did an event of this sort even get started, you may ask! Don't worry, we sat down and got the scoop.

"This first started in 2011 with a group of owners and employees thinking of ways to develop and expand our company. They like to party and thought why not do a Tap 'N' Run?!? The event grew from there and has really taken off. The mission of this event is to promote a healthy lifestyle while still having a great time with friends and family," Morgan Coslow, Event Planner for JAM Active says.

The run/walk race totaling approximately 2.4 miles throughout Georgia Street includes three beer chug stations along the race course and a full cold one at the finish line.

Participants are encouraged to complete the race in teams with family and/or friends. Teams and age divisions are broken down into different categories including the following: Pints, Tall Boys and Growlers for teams and Quarter Life Crisis, Cougars & Creepers, Sports Cars & Botox and Viagra & Hot Flashes for age divisions. Check out a visual explanation here.

Operated through Louisville-based JAM Active, participants are encouraged to run, crawl, skip or hop to the three "chug stations" located throughout the race course. Once participants reach any single "chug station" they will be greeted with a 4 oz. cold one. Many races include beer as an incentive or even just a refresher, but this race is the first of its kind for a reason.

"We wanted to incorporate the idea of doing something active while having a great time with friends. Running and drinking seemed like the perfect fit! People have seen many races where runners receive beer at the finish, but we wanted to be the first to incorporate it into the route," Coslow says.

At the finish line, participants will be greeted with a full 12 oz. brew along with possible awards.
Categories for the awards are fun and fabulous including Best Mustache, Best Belcher, Most Original Team Concept, Hot Mess and others, all taking place at the events after party.

Indy bar partners for the event include the following: Howl at the Moon, Hot Box Pizza, Kilroy's, The Pub and the Titled Kilt. A portion of the proceeds earned from the event will benefit the local charity, Easter Seals Crossroads.

In addition to the exciting and ever so eventful race and the cold brews given at the end, participants will receive a sweet Finisher's medal that also doubles as a bottle opener.

"The allure of the event, some say, is the uniqueness of being able to drink mid-run. Other races have beer at the end, but Tap 'N' Run provides it right along the race route," said Matt Roberts, JAM Active Executive director.

Registration for this beer and run, all in one, event is open until the day of the race, June 8th. Click here for more information! And as always, drink responsibly.
