When: Sun., Sept. 11, 3-5 p.m. 2011
The End of the World, a large wind ensemble including the Butler University Chorale, Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Ensemble, will be presented this September.
Written during the blistering, record-breaking heat wave of summer 2011, The End of the World was also inspired/influenced by the Mayan calendar, and by two other global phenomenon: the notorious Nostradamus doomsday prophecy for the cataclysmic end of the world in December 2012, and the real-life catastrophic events - earthquakes and tsunami - that leveled northern Japan in March 2011.
