When: Sat., Aug. 27, 2 p.m. 2011
Individuals of all ages are invited for an afternoon of musical fun during a performance of the 30-piece circus punk marching band Mucca Pazza, whose name comes from the Italian for "crazy cow." Based in Chicago, the band's repertoire ranges from Balkan-brass to 1960's TV show themes, as well as themes from Shostakovich and Bartok. With orchestration that includes trumpets, trombones, accordion, violin, percussion and cheerleaders, the band has produced two albums and was featured on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien." Weather permitting, the performance will begin outside and continue into Central Library's Clowes Auditorium. For more info, visit www.imcpl.org/central/index.html.
