Thumbs Up: Die-hard optimism

Die-hard optimism

Something is to be said for experience. Well, maybe not for long-term lawmakers who will undermine the interests of the people by spreading blatant falsehoods that serve no other purpose than to protect their selfish political interests, but for long-time observers of the legislative process who can watch lawmakers gut critical legislative initiatives with the calm self-assurance that solutions are possible, even in seemingly dead-end situations. The legislative session is not over, they say, until it's over. This is reassuring to those of more inclined to think that the myopic scope of incumbent legislative vision (on the mass transit issue, for example) indicates that the session was over before it began.
