When: Thu., Nov. 20, 11 a.m. and Fri., Nov. 21, 8 p.m. 2014
These two performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E-flat (or the “Eroica”) see the return of Mario Venzago conducting the ISO. Dame Evelyn Glennie will be featured during this concert as guest percussionist — “the first person in musical history to successfully create and sustain a full-time career as a solo percussionist,” according to the ISO’s website. The midday performance on Nov. 20 is a shorter program that includes Koppel’s “Concerto for Aluphone” (as well as free coffee and pastries — bonus!) while the Nov. 21 concert includes the two aforementioned pieces and Sibelius’ Finlandia, Op.26.
