When: Mon., April 13, 5:30-8 p.m. 2015
The entire community is invited for a special evening of music, film and discussion celebrating "Women in Jazz." The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a jazz performance featuring Monika Herzig and her band. From 6 - 7:30 p.m., there will be a screening of the documentary, "Lady Be Good" by Kay Ray, that examines the contributions of American women to the jazz movement between the 1920s through the '70s and documents the development of all-woman jazz groups through rare footage, photos and provocative interviews with women musicians. The evening concludes at 7:30 p.m. with a question-and-answer session with filmmaker Kay Ray. This program will be held in Central Library's Clowes Auditorium.
